Child Psychologist

Child psychology is concerned with all aspects of a child’s development, from prenatal development through childhood through adolescence. A child psychologist works with children, adolescents, parents, and other professionals to support young people with issues that impact upon their development, well-being and mental health, in the context of lifespan development.

Psychologists assess and diagnose mental health disorders, learning disabilities, learning disorders, and neuro-developmental disorders, and offer tailored psychological and psychotherapeutic interventions which are research-proven to be effective. A psychological assessment and/or intervention helps young people, families, and those supporting young people to better understand an individual’s strengths and needs, and how best to meet their individual needs. This leads to improved well-being and functioning, and a better quality of life.

Some families opt for an informal approach to assessment with the key focus on intervention, whilst others opt for a formal assessment and diagnosis. Psychology appointments are tailored to the needs and preferences of each client and their family.
